GERALD DURRELL: THE MOST WONDERFUL, BEAUTIFUL THINGS IN LIFE ARE THE SIMPLE THINGS WHICH WE HAVE ALL FORGOTTEN

Gerald Malcom Durrell  (7th January 1925- 30th January 1995) was a British conservationist, writer, and television presenter who lived in Corfu, Greece, when he was young. His mother Louisa Florence Dixie decided to bring up her four children abroad, as her husband Samuel, a British engineer, died in 1928. Gerald, her youngest son,  was happy to share his life with all kinds of animals, even scorpions! Gerald Durrell's most famous book is My Family and Other Animals (1956). He is also the founder of the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust based at Jersey Zoo on the Channel Island of Jersey.
